Ahhhh....A Place to Relax and Unwind
Loved, loved, loved this quaint, charming cottage right on the side of the river. Everywhere you looked just oozed comfort, uniqueness, and attention to detail. The place was as described - the original house is dark, you have to pass through one bedroom area upstairs to get to the other, and you can hear the cute donkey across the river braying every so often...all part of the appeal in my opinion. The river water is clean and accessible. We had fun wading around in the chilly water. Boone, the small odd town of Todd, and West Jefferson are nearby.Don't be creeped out by the abandoned trailer at the beginning of the road, when you get to this place you can just relax.

Relaxing weekend
We had a great time at Down by the River. The house was comfortable and had plenty of space for me, my husband and our two seven year olds. We built a fire each night, made smores, put up hammocks in the trees for our girls, and relaxed by the river.

Lovely Cabin on the Creek
The cabin was very lovely and peaceful right beside the creek. The kids enjoyed fishing and tubing. We really enjoyed our stay. There were a few things that could have made our stay better. There was a family of raccoons living in the ceiling and we heard them all night long. I called in a reported that to management. They offered to move us- but the whole reason we booked the cabin was to be on the river, so we stuck it out. There was no water running into the master tub. We called and reported that also and was told they couldn?t get a plumber out on weekends. The hot water is very limited. I tried to take a bath in the other bathroom, but only got half a tub of luke warm water- and no only else had used hot water before I tried to take a bath. There is no dishwasher, so bring paper products if you don?t want to spend your time washing dishes. Also know that you have to wash all the linens before you leave. (You can leave one load of laundry for an apartment size washer/dryer combo) anything more- you are charged for.
