A charming three bedroom cottage located on top of a hill in maritime forest with privacy, comfort, and walking path to Roanoke Sound. Upstairs Jack and Jill bath. Relax on the quiet beach at sunset or kayak on the shallow water of Roanoke Sound.
It is a perfect vacation rental to visit Roanoke Island and the beaches of the Outer Banks. This unique restored cottage is located at the end of a private road in a pristine maritime forest. Cruise along the bike path (bikes furnished by owner) that runs along the corridor of Roanoke Island. Visitors can enjoy the Manteo waterfront, Island Farm, NC Aquarium, The Lost Colony, and The Elizabethan Gardens. Roanoke Island, centrally located, is on the sound west of the barrier islands of the Outer Banks. Beautiful beaches and the new aquarium on the pier are located within a 10 minute car ride to Nags Head. Explore the northern beaches to see wild horses roaming, head south to the island of Ocracoke by ferry or take trips to state park, private preserves, or national wildlife refuge.
The first floor has wood floors in the living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel range, full sized refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher, and a lovely master bedroom with queen bed. A bathroom with washer and dryer is located next to the master bedroom. The second floor has two bedrooms, one queen and one with twin beds attached by a full bath. Linens are included. Two very large decks overlooking a view that reminds you of the mountains. The home accommodates six people.

Very comfortable and convenient.
Tucked away into old dunes, it's very scenic and secluded. Private path to the sound. You simultaneously feel like you're in the mountains and at the coast. This place has all the comforts of home. Only one caveat, the stairway to the house and the path to the sound are both long and steep , so prepare to climb, climb, climb. But both are so worth it that you'll forget the strain. Manteo is quaint and Roanoke Island is historical. Close to all the OBX highlights. We're definitely coming here again.Mary D.

Hilltop Tranquility
On our Sister trips the accommodations are very important to us and the cottage on the hill delivered. We spend lots of time just being together and the cottage was comfortable, quiet, secluded, and charming. The inside was well equipped and the outside was peaceful. When we realized we weren’t on the waterfront, like the photos seemed to lead, we thought we’d be disappointed but we weren’t. We thought the 30 steps up to the front door would get old but they didn’t. The charm and character of this little house won us over easily.Contact Owner
